Description:
In upper Putumayo, southern Colombia, where the Andes mountain range meets the Amazon rainforest, indigenous children Kamentsá and Inga impatiently await their turn to receive a small cup of yagé (ayahuasca), a sacred plant used by traditional healers to harmonize and heal the body and spirit. In the Sibundoy Valley, children are invited from an early age to yagé ceremonies, where some begin their training as Taitas or Mamitas (shamans), connecting with the master spirit of the plant, their ancestors and their territory.
