This furniture store has survived and thrived for more than 20 years in the same basement, unnoticed by those who measure happiness by accumulating more. This nameless character with his eyes on the horizon, focused on his craft, hopeful about what his hands have the capacity to create, is a window that shows the fleeting glimmer of tomorrow. When titles do not categorize us and learning is a common good and attainable for all, the flags that accompany the upholsterer can meander allegorically, I trust in the power to deconstruct the thinking that exploits us and measures us as productive, to replace it with the feeling of learning and creating as an act of goodness itself. So I look to the future from the present that claims dignity for the work that raises families and leaps across generations to heal and honour who we are, that future I see in my imaginary blossom from our differences into embraces capable of celebrating those we have never been able to hear, as well as the rockstar of the corner furniture store.
