Africa as a continent is populated by many young people in the world. It was interesting to see young Africans coming together as one with the common mission of transforming Africa in a decade.

The two days virtual meeting of launching OMLA a part of NELIS Africa program was hosted by Peter David Perndersm a Co-founder/Executive officer of Next Leaders Initiatives for Sustainability (NELIS) GLOBAL which started in Japan since 2015.

28th – 29th August 2020 Virtual Summit; NELIS together with NLU, likeminded individuals as well as   institutes with young Africans launched the OMLA program which a project set to transform Africa within a decade. This program is an offline and online leadership based training which will empower One Million Young African leaders for the transformation of African continent in the period of ten years.

The One Million Leaders Africa-OMLA program, will run in all African countries. This is to maintain the implementation of all OMLA activities as well as leadership programs and practices in all African countries. There is a need for a sustainable development where all Africans will be having all essential needs as well as a sound wellbeing.

The OMLA participants will be given training based on the certain pillars such as the following

-Good and effective leadership,

-Circular economy,

-Environmental  conservation and Climate change,

-Energy and Resources,

-Food and Agriculture ,

-Infrastructures,

-Productive education,

-Technological advancements ,

-Employment opportunities and African Unity as well as the continent independence.

As the training is set to commence by early 2021, the aspirants of OMLA themselves will accept to be committed in all program sessions. This implies that as OMLA participants or volunteered aspirants, they shall provide contributions as working volunteers in their countries. For example, if one/or more participant are from either Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Tanzania, Burundi, Etc. They will be the voice of OMLA in their country.

During the summit, participants discussed all matters and strategies to be used before the commencement of the program.

One of the important strategy is communication  as an interactive tool for leaders from different countries. This was given a clear solution to  as it will be improved on as days go by.

The medium of communication which will be mostly used are:

-Website,

-Emails and all possible social medias.

OMLA COMMUNITY ORIENTATION DURING PRE-SIGN UP CAMPAIGN

All prior summit applicants are around 670 younger leaders which are from about 37 countries of which are supposed to work as the first voice and mobilizer of OMLA program from and to their countries.

The OMLA Community decided to elect LEAD COMMUNICATORS  who will be coordinating the intakes of the new registered young leaders from each African country. The lead communicator will be acting mostly together with the prior summit applicants in each country.

Responsibilities of the Lead communicator in each country: The Lead communicator  will help in the registration of new members in the  OMLA community and share the updates to the country’s young leaders. They will help in the collection of  monetary contribution from the new and current registered members in their country.

However, we discovered that OMLA will need some support from either individuals, government institutions, NGOs, company and young leaders who are to be called  OMLA boosters or signees.

The Lead Communicator will act as the bridge between boosters and OMLA community. The one payment contribution have been made from USD $1 up to $100 for every boosters. This payment is done once. For individual ability and commitment, no maximum of amount is to be paid. This suggests that individuals can exceed $100. The OMLA Boosters are the first supporters of OMLA empowerment program.

Africa vision 2030

Our Journey to One million leaders by 2030, the OMLA Empowerment program will start in 2021. To run this program effectively with high demand the OMLA community will keep holding the annual boot camp which will start with the year of 2021 where 100leaders will be attending the first sponsored boot camp in either Nigeria, Rwanda or Mauritius. Those 100 leaders will be trained to  serve as the supper trainers of OMLA  community in their countries. Also each of them will train 100 younger leaders every month using online and offline resources.

From  Arthur Mbonu : I’m Arthur Kriste Mbonu, a writer from Nigeria. I believe that majority of the problems facing Africa have been the issues of poor leadership.  How can an average African fulfill his or her potentials in life, since in Africa we depend on government for virtually everything?

From  Alfred Kollie :  I am Alfred Kollie from Liberia.

How can young people get involve in the transformation  process  of their Country and Africa  at large when they have been left out in decision making processes.?

From  Koffi-Hyacinthe Takpah : I believe that solutions are already there. There is a huge lack of willing from our politics. Tell them to give chances to young people. They have solutions for all the struggles our mother continent is going through.

From  Elie BIZIMANA-Rwanda : All of those steps you introduced are important for transformation. but we as Africans should note that  the success is very possible.
