One Million Trees Liberia Project

Summary ROW, LYCA and Nelis Liberia, intends to increase the act of Reforestation in Liberia.

Many countries around the world have points on convergence when it come to climate and adaptation. Over the years, our climate has been dissipated because of continuous threat posed by cutting down of trees without attempting to Reforestation in many countries. In Liberia the Norwegian government with support through the world bank has granted monies to the Liberian forest sectors to ensure reduction in the number of trees that have cut down due to the farming system. But the act of deforestation continues to be a problem in Liberia.

ROW, LYCA and Nelis Liberia seeks to reduce the impact of windy weather, storm, climate changes and deforestation in Liberia. The project attempts to plant several thousands trees to combat climate changes especially storm.Continuous Reforestation also leads to attracting wildlife to their habitat. It provides oxygen in a heaty weather and reduces the threat posed by the long period of summer/dried season as we called in Liberia. The tree planting will add beauty to our country and keep it cooler for healthy environment. The project will mobilize servals young people across Liberia to participate in this silviculture act, and will solicit support from environmentalists and others interested in climate change to provide the number of trees needed.

The project will engage young people in reducing waste in their communities and using the waste materials for fertilizer for trees planting and agricultural proposes. The tree planting will be done in phases and will continue for ten years. Every year, the team expects to plant about one hundred thousands tress to ensure clean and renewable energy.
