The Solo-Backpacking, Impact-Creating Sustainability Enthusiast

Meet Dr. Ming, AKA as Jian Ming, an impact creator, sustainability enthusiast and One Million Leaders Asia (OMLAS) Fellow – where he has blown us away with his passion for creating change. He is the founder of Aimpactz, a social enterprise that is focused on sustainability education and waste-as-a-resource projects. Dr. Ming believes that change is the only constant, and he lives his life by this motto.

One of his notable programs is Aisuka.Life, a community-driven initiative that aims to reduce environmental waste by upcycling household items into handmade upcycled products made by local low-income women

It’s a win-win situation where the environment benefits, and low-income communities are empowered through sustainable employment opportunities.

Dr. Ming’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring. He solo-backpacked from Malaysia to Europe in just 200 days, showing the world that it’s possible to travel sustainably. He was also the project manager of the “Biggest Collage Made by Recyclable Items” in Malaysia, setting a record in the Malaysia Book of Records.

Despite his success, Dr. Ming still faces challenges in building and engaging communities, getting market acceptance for upcycling products, and explaining the concept of social enterprise. His advice to those facing similar challenges is to embrace change, have a long-term positive creation mindset, and take action while learning. As Dr. Ming puts it,

“Change is the only constant.  Embrace the change and create sustainable impact”

His work at Aimpactz is proof that one person can make a significant difference and inspire others to follow in their footsteps. So let’s join Dr. Ming in his mission to create a sustainable future for ourselves and the generations to come.
